It got thrust upon me and I had a lot of learning on the job.’  Orton’s mentor and friend Triple H was instrumental in his success, and he pulled his pal aside to warn him off a potentially destructive path.  He revealed: ‘We talked and I said “Randy, you have every gift imaginable to be the biggest star this business has ever seen, and the only one that can stop you is you, and you are hellbent on doing it and I don’t know why.” ‘  Orton – who will face Edge in a Last Man Standing match at WrestleMania 36 -won the gold while standing alongside Triple H as part the legendary Evolution stable, which also features Hall of Famers Ric Flair and Batista.  The latter – who has since gone on to become a Hollywood star – also realised the responsibility had come too soon for his teammate.  ‘He was a kid, and he was told to go out there and represent us. Randy wasn’t ready for that,’ he explained.  Mark Henry was around at the time, and the World’s Strongest Man suggested Orton’s ego made him a difficult presence in the locker room.  ‘Hell no. He was not ready,’ the legendary star bluntly said. ‘Because, it kind of went to his head at first.  ‘Like, “I’m good, I’m the champ, I’m the main event tonight.” He became a monster. And not everybody does, but he did.’  *You can watch Ruthless Aggression exclusively on the WWE Network FOR FREE.
