Mr Gleeson said the “time has come for Australia to officially withdraw its financial support for the World Health Organisation” following a spate of recent controversies involving the organisation since the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus pandemic in China.
The WHO has also recently faced widespread condemnation for having ignored desperate calls from global leaders to ban China’s deadly and diseased exotic markets which were likely the cause of the killer coronavirus.
Mr Gleeson said Australia’s financial contributions should be withdrawn so the organisation doesn’t spend the money to continue to “cover up China’s disgraceful coronavirus scandal”.
“If the planet cannot rely on the WHO to provide sound, timely and effective advice on things such as pandemics, why have it?” he said.
“Australia must play hardball with the WHO. The health and economic destructiveness of this pandemic shows WHO is incapable of doing its job”.
