War veteran walks laps of his property to raise millions for the NHS

War veteran walks laps of his property to raise millions for the NHS A 99-year-old British war veteran who raised $35 million for NHS workers by walking 100 laps of his driveway has encouraged people to hold on because “things will certainly get better”.

In the United Kingdom, the NHS has been stretched to the breaking point as they try to handle an influx of patients as fatalities climb with another 861 deaths recorded overnight.

World War Two Veteran Captain Tom Moore started doing laps for charity after his family said they would give him a pound for ever length of the driveway he walked before he turned 100, but he rapidly became a public icon after his family set up a JustGiving page.

Captain Moore said the NHS have been “so cheerful, so kind and so brave” despite “putting themselves in danger from this unseen enemy that we’ve got at the moment”.

“I’ve always believed that things will get better and there’s no doubt at the present time it’s very difficult for an awful lot of people,” he told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“In the war time things were bad … but we fought on and we won," he said.

Captain Moore’s daughter Hannah Moore said, “this is about being a beacon of hope in a world that is really struggling”.
