Have you ever heard the saying ‘Great success requires greater sacrifice’? Well, that’s exactly
what I had in my mind when I agreed to the deal that allowed me to get straight As all through
high school.
I’d like to tell you all about it, and hope you won’t judge me too harshly. This is the first time I’ve
ever told this secret to anyone, and that’s why I’d rather remain anonymous. If my family, my
husband, and my friends discovered what I did, I’d lose everything!
So let me give you a fake name. What about Millie? That sounds nice. Yeah, you can call me
Millie.
But before we move on like this video, hit that ‘subscribe’ button! and activate the notification
bell. This will let you live 20 amazing years longer! Trust me, it works!
Anyways, let’s move right onto the deal I made, and who I made it with. It’s kind of messed up,
especially once you know how the whole thing ended!
So, my parents were super strict. Like, insanely so. A single B was enough to ground me for an
entire weekend. And what’s worse, my older sister was a certified genius! She finished high
school early, skipping a whole grade. Later on, she’d go on to study medicine with a full
scholarship, to one of the best colleges in the country.
That’s to say, she set the bar super high for me. I didn’t just have to be good... I had to be
extraordinary! My sister... let’s call her Mona... oh, she was the best at everything! She was
lead cheerleader, she was the president of the student council, she was the school’s most
beloved student.
Do you know how much pressure I faced every day, both at home and at school? When
teachers heard my last name, they’d go:
“Oh, so you’re Mona’s baby sister? Are you as smart as she is?”
Yeah. Talk about making me feel pressured into excellency!
My parents always compared me to her. My mom would tell me just about every single day:
“If Mona can do it, you can do it too! So stop making up excuses!”
It frustrated me so much!

Now, don’t think Mona was a stuck-up or anything of the sort. She was a total sweetheart! My
big sister always looked after me and tried to help me with my homework. She was supportive
and sweet.
“Don’t let mom and dad make you feel nervous, sis.” Mona said, trying to calm me down when I
got too stressed out “You are great just the way you are!”
So, yeah, Mona was amazing. I wish I could have been as great as her! It was hard always
trying to be as perfect as someone else and coming up short.
Now, during primary and middle school, I did ok. Not great, not perfect like my mom and dad
expected me to, but ok. I had lots of Bs and a few As, and though they frowned and scolded me,
they sort of accepted it.
