Facebook link- Hi explorers, this beautiful old home was a hidden gem tucked away in the back streets of Sturt, South Australia. It was built in 1900 and would have been one of the first homesteads in the area and remained one of very few of that vintage in that suburb. it is built right at the turn of the Victorian era and has a unique layout and design all while displaying the amazing stone work and features known for that era. In my opinion this home should have had some heritage importance to the area but it unfortunately was not protected and in the last few days before this upload it was completely demolished. Bitter sweet again! A well known non for profit organization which helps the under privileged and elderly had purchased the large property and from estimations will be putting up affordable housing complex for the under privileged. It seems the previous owners have left stuff and also packed up stuff but left it there and also signs of squatters that may have enjoyed this old gem for a while too. This home was literally a hidden gem alone among the drab urban sprawl of housing commission and cookie cutter 70`s units. Another sad ending unfortunately.
